Another stunning day in the high country. We got out of camp just as the mosquitoes warmed up and continued the climb up Pinchot Pass. Smiles wasn't feeling too well, and I totally hit the wall(=bonked) within 4 miles of camp. An emergency dose of snickers, olive oil, and heavily sugared electrolyte drink kick started me and got me through to lunch. The panoramas on both sides of Pinchot Pass were excellent, as to be expected, but the final climb up the pass was not as spectacular as either Forester or Glen. It was monotonous, by comparison, as we chugged up friendly switchbacks without much exposure at all. Looking south, the geology resembled a bowl with a narrow drainage that dropped away vigorously and out of sight. Looking north, it was almost a straight shot to Mather Pass, with U-shaped valleys meeting at the confluence of the south fork Kings River.
<more needed here, but time to hike!>
